Aviva Ventures makes investments in early-stage businesses that have the potential to transform the insurance industry.

Investment focus

We are planning to deploy £100m over the next five years making investments of £1m-£5m for up to 20% equity. Typically this is a Seed Plus or Series A round. We’re a strategic corporate venture fund. This means we want to develop a strategic relationship with those we invest in.

We’re currently based in the UK and Singapore, but can make investments in other markets, particularly where Aviva has a presence.

We take minority equity stakes of up to 20%, typically at the Seed Plus, or Series A stage.

Our people

Ben Luckett

Managing Director

Ben Luckett is the Managing Director of Aviva Ventures. He set up the fund in August 2015 as part of Aviva’s Innovation Strategy.

Prior to this Ben was the Strategy Director for the UKGI Business and has also held roles in Enterprise Risk and Finance. Ben represents Aviva on the East of England CBI regional council and is actively involved in supporting and mentoring local businesses.

Prior to joining Aviva Ben was Senior Marketing Manager at Centrica where he was responsible for the online channel for British Gas. Ben started his career at Accenture where he was a change management consultant specialising in Customer Experience Design for Banking and Insurance clients.

Shahid Mian

Senior Manager

Shah Mian supports Ben Luckett in the day to day running of the fund. An accountant by training prior to joining Aviva, Shah has a wide experience with a variety of roles in finance and corporate rescue in The City, professional practice and in industry, including public companies and SMEs.

Shah has worked for Aviva in a number of functions across M&A, large commercial tenders and strategy. Shah is passionate about helping the fund identify and invest in companies that have the potential to become the next generation of leaders in their chosen markets.

Ant Barker

Senior Manager

Ant has experience working in start-ups and large corporates across finance, business and change management, and venture capital. An accountant by training Ant is focussed on deal execution, portfolio management and ensuring that the strategic intelligence, and opportunities from investments, are capitalised on in the Aviva business units. Ant is passionate about helping the fund to accelerate our broader strategy and challenge thinking within Aviva.

Fernand Lendoye

Managing Director, Asia

Fernand Lendoye is currently a Managing Director with Aviva Ventures in Asia. He is passionate about new venture strategy and start-up financing, and is actively engaged in advising, mentoring, investing and partnering with ambitious entrepreneurs who have the drive to disrupt industries. Prior to Aviva Ventures, Fernand was a seasoned financial services executive with global transactional and significant operating experience in shaping growth strategies and business development, opening new markets and driving business turnaround in Asia, Europe and North America. His broad transactional experience ranges from a £5bn+ transformative acquisition in the UK to a $20bn+ IPO in Asia. He holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

Everett Leonidas

Senior Manager

Everett’s career has spanned investment banking, leveraged finance, mergers & acquisitions, venture capital, corporate strategy, product management, new product development and start-up business development. He has been an advisor, investor and industry practitioner and was previously part of Aviva’s Innovation team with a worldwide remit to capture new market opportunities for Aviva by partnering with start-ups to provide new products and services.
